The Connection Cafe Team

Dr. Patricia Guzman, DC
Chiropractor
Dr. Patricia was born in Oakland, CA and raised in the Bay Area. A graduate of Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, she owns Connection Cafe: A Chiropractic Center and serves at both the Union City and Lafayette locations! Dr. Patricia has personally experienced the benefits of chiropractic throughout her life and with her two sons. She has always had a keenness for embracing the body’s own inherent ability to function, to heal, and to thrive at its highest capacity.
An avid student of kung fu, Dr. Patricia initially planned to work as a sports chiropractor. However, after hearing Dr. Jeanne Ohm, ICPA's (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association) CEO, speak at a seminar, she knew without a doubt that her life's work would be specializing in pregnancy and pediatrics. Dr. Ohm's talk spoke so deeply to her, reminding her of her own traumatic birth experiences. As a result, she was inspired to help empower women to trust their bodies, shed their fears, and embrace their innate capacity to birth their babies naturally and with minimal interventions.
The chiropractic techniques that Dr. Patricia practices are Diversified and Drop, as well as Sacro Occipital technique (SOT) and Activator. She is Webster Technique certified, which is a chiropractic analysis and adjustment that is utilized in prenatal care. She is a Dynamic Body Balancing practitioner, which is a variation of cransiosacral therapy with myofascial unwinding and can be used on anyone including prenatal and pediatric practice members. And she also incorporates tonal and light touch approaches such as Bio Geometric Integration (BGI) and craniosacral therapy!

Dr. Margherita’s commitment to women’s health also extends to her work in pregnancy as a certified Holistic Doula in the East Bay where she finds joy in supporting women through the beautiful process of labor and birth.

Samantha Rescino
Chiropractic Intern
Sam graduated from Life West Chiropractic College this past June and is now finishing up her National Board Exams. As a mother of 3, and her journey through motherhood is what sparked her passion for all things birth, babies and chiropractic. The birth of her first child, a pre-term cesarean hospital birth, inspired her to follow her dreams of finding ways in supporting all mothers along the way, that’s when she fell in love with chiropractic. Her second pregnancy led to a successful all-natural VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) supported by a team, including a chiropractor. This re-doubled her commitment to serve her community of mothers and their families.
Samantha is trained as a Holistic Birth Doula with the Natural Birth Institute and spent a decade attending births in the surrounding East Bay before attending chiropractic school. She has experience in prenatal and pediatric adjusting, extremity adjusting, and is trained in full-spine Activator protocol. She also utilizes drop, SOT, and dynamic body balancing techniques into her practice!
